TimelineMovieMaker
It’s no secret, I am a huge fan of Facebook Timeline. I guess, as a bit of an early adopter I am always ready to jump in at something new and cool especially when technology is involved. It lets me explore the inner nerd that has taken over 🙂

I also see the potential of Timeline as having the ability to allow people such as myself to use Facebook as a means to interact with family , close friends and collegues and use it as the amazing networking tool that it has become in my life.

Well today a friend and  collegue shared an amazing post which is always the case with Roseli A. Bakar of EzyBlogger Fame.  This post displayed a really cool tool that allow you to make a movie from your Facebook Timeline. How cool is that?  Well, I had to test it out, you just to make sure it worked properly. :-P. Take a look at the video below. Also check out the additional resources section which will give you much more practical advice on implementing Facebook Timeline.

In the meantime, use Timeline Movie Maker to make your own movie

Man Up! #Google+ And #SocialSearch IS HAPPENING..So Sink or Swim

SocialSearch

Everyone is Blah..blah…blah-ing about Google+, the push toward Social Search and what it will mean to them. Well, guess what? It’s about to happen so stop complaining and get ready. Yeah, Facebook and Twitter are both crying. Boo-hoo for them, they have been dominating Social Media for quite a while.   Seriously did either of those companies think that Google + would NOT have an answer for their domination? It is Google after all, and that is exactly why Google rocks and why they command so much respect. Facebook & Twitter, do you want some CHEESE with that Whine?

In the meantime people,  it’s time to prep and stop blah..blah..blahing about another platform. Get over it and prep your business, prep your clients businesses and change your state of mind. You are tech savvy or your would be somewhere making a cold call from your landline phone NOT on social media bitching about working with another platform.

Man up, get on Google plus, make your profile, connect with some people, share some great content and make your impact on Social Search. This is a historical time in technology, embrace it, wallow in it and most importantly enjoy it. Use this as an opportunity to be a part of game changing history.

Nothing else.

Let Your EGO HIT The Floor: #SocialMedia and YOUR HUGE EGO is Not A Good Mix

HitTheFloor

I wrote a post quite a while ago and one of the responses accused social media peeps of having huge egos and that they were narcissistic. At the time I didn’t really agree, nor did I even see any of the behaviors that this person was referring to.

That was then, this is now because I’ve recently notice a lot of chest beating, inner fighting, people trying to control others and pettiness. This is really a direct polar opposite of what social media is suppose to be about. I believe this is due to a lot of postering, chest beating and the inability to put ones ego aside.   #FAIL

Social Media is geared toward engaging, interacting and having open dialogue, NOT about YOU, YOUR EGO, BULLYING and CONTROLLING OTHERS. Handle Your BIZ!

I think there needs to be a lot less EGO and a lot MORE focus on providing quality content for followers, containing ones ego and LESS minding the business of others. Focus on Content, Curation and Clients..Rant over!

On a final note…Let your EGO Hit The Floor…singing that to music below.

Cheers!

#Triberr: 8 Steps To Being A Great Tribe Mate

Triberr

I found out about Triberr a few months ago after being invited to a group by Michael Q Todd, before then I had heard very little about it. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about it initially but there were so many amazing people from my social circles involved that I thought what the heck, let me check it out too.  I had just moved my blog from Posterous to WordPress and lost a bit of traffic with the move so I went for it and I have been very pleased with the results.

Everyone wants to increase the reach and traffic to their blog and Triberr is a platform that allows you to do that.  Now that it is open to the public and no longer in beta the potential of blog growth is HUGE. In a nutshell, Triberr allows you to create a tribe, add members of that tribe  and share blog content through RSS Feeds through the Twitter feed of your tribe mates.

As you share content you really get to know the people that you are in tribes with. So a few things that I’ve been doing to become a better tribe mate:

  • Check into Triberr at least once per day depending on how many tribes you belong to. I try to check in twice per day because I belong to quite a few tribes.
  • Give Karma.
  • Load share buttons and share content using +1 and StumbleUpon.
  • Follow all of your tribe mates on Twitter and other social media channels.
  • Get to know your tribe mates!
  • Check out and follow the blogs of your tribe mates
  • Leave comments on the blogs of your tribe mates.  [I’m working on this one]
  • Share great content of your tribe mates on your other social media channels.

Have fun and enjoy!

It’s ALL About Your FOLLOWERS, SO ADD Value To Your #SocialMedia Channels

AddingValue

As Internet Marketing and Social Media peeps we can get caught up in the excitement of the industry and sharing what we know.  We can also blab about what we do excessively because this is such a cool new industry and we are really excited about it.

As Social Media people we are excited about all of the new channels that we are signing up for and how many beta’s we can be a part of.  These are things that social media people talk about among themselves because so many of us travel in packs like wolves 🙂 and are all inter-connected.

One of the things that we must be congizant of is that our social media friends are just a portion of our followers.  So we must remember that although we may be excited about the next hottest social media platform, that may not necessarily be the case for those that follow us that ARE NOT heavily involved with social media. Followers that are clients or potential clients will not gain the same amount of exitement about a new platform as our social media friends.

When considering the content that we provide we must make sure that we provide information of value to all of our followers. This will of course involve being aware of the likes and dislikes of followers based on feedback and insights.  So if you are aware of what your followers like make sure you provide content that is of value to them as well as your social media friends.

For instance, although my focus is on providing social media content I realized that there is a huge foodie demographic on my Facebook page . So I make sure I provide content about food that appeals to their foodie senses 🙂  I am a bit of a foodie so this is really no sacrafice for me at all.  So my goal is to provide information about social media AND other information that is of value to them.

One of the things to remember is that your followers know what industry you are in, they know that you love social media so add content that is of value to them because frankly they probably don’t want to hear you blahh..blahh..blahhh about social media all the time. I’m sure my followers don’t either, so I talk about mobile plan pricing, social good, business start up, food, cool apps and anything else I think would be cool.   My goal is to supply information that makes their life easier, saves them money or makes them laugh and overall add values to the channels beyond just social media.

So, Rock on but don’t blah..blah…blah..unless it is providing value to your followers….

#Google+ is #SocialSearch, do you LIKE The +1 Button? You’d BETTER….

like Google Plus

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Google+ and I believe that it is a serious game changer.  Although there are many that would argue that Google+ is just for a bunch of social media folks that are puffed up on their own importance. Not my words.  Personally, I don’t see it that way, I do however see it as another platform to engage with a different demographic of people.

All social media platforms have different demographics of followers and Google+ is no different. I think that it is somewhat misunderstood because the platform opened and a lot of the early adopter social media people were the first to arrive. Well that is what social media & Internet Marketing focused people do, especially early adopters.  Well due to the influx of early adopters I believe Google+ has recieve a bit of a bad rap for being the snooty, social elitist platform.

Even if there is a view that this platform is for the social media elite, if you are in business why would you not want to tap that demographic? Also most importantly demographics of any platform are constantly growing and changing with technology.  As a business person it is wise NOT to rule out any avenue of business and engagement.

English: Google+ wordmark

Since we now know that Google+ is really about to put a spin on the game of social media and search, wouldn’t it be an opportune time to tap that additional demographic, expand our horizons and go ahead and hit that +1 more. Better yet, live dangerously and hit it a few times, then throw caution to the wind and add it to your WordPress site.

No need to fight the power 🙂 on this one Google+ is about to rock your technological world, it’s best to be prepared. So I advise learning to LIKE the +1.
